SAVANNAH, GA (August 7, 2015) –Ten new officers were officially sworn in as Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police officers at a Badge Pinning Ceremony this morning at the SCMPD’s new Professional Development Center.
The new officers completed 11 weeks of state-mandated training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center and seven weeks of SCMPD Patrol School.
Savannah Downtown Business Association President Ruel Joyner served as the keynote speaker. “What all officers share is that you are here to serve and protect,” he said in his address to the new officers. “Let me assure you, we know and support that you have chosen to go into a noble profession. For this we say thank you. We are with you because a beautiful city deserves a great police force and you are an honorable reflection of a noble profession.”
Congratulations to officers Greg Brogcinski, James English, Juan Herrera, Scott Layne, Joseph Overholt, James Persse, Michelle Pohlen, Shawn Pollock, Marion Roberts and Thomas Shepard.
