SAVANNAH GA (December 21, 2010) Savannah-Chatham Metro Police have one man in custody after an armed robbery.
Just before 2:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to 600 East Derenne Blvd. after receiving a call that the McDonalds had just been robbed at gun point.
Witnesses stated a man, wearing a green sweatshirt and dark colored pants, came into the store, grabbed the manager and demanded money. The manager did as she was told and was getting the money for the suspect when one of the other store employees ran from the business and called police.
The suspect successfully got away with the money and fled the area. Within minutes an officer spotted the man running along a fence line and was able to catch him and take him into custody without further incident. Dawante HOOD, 18, was positively identified as the robber. HOOD was charged with armed robbery and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center.
