UPDATE: On Dec. 4, 2017, Joseph Ramsey, 16, was charged with another armed robbery that also occurred on Oct. 9. The 72-year-old victim was putting books in the library drop box by the Savannah Mall about 12:20 p.m. Oct. 9 when she turned to find a man with a gun demanding her car keys. He left with her vehicle. On Dec. 4, SCMPD added charges of armed robbery, hijacking a motor vehicle and intimidating an elder. Per the District Attorney’s Office, Ramsey will be charged as an adult.
SAVANNAH, GA (October 12, 2017) – A juvenile has been charged in an Oct. 9 armed robbery of a woman outside an Abercorn Street business.
The 70-year-old victim was walking to her vehicle at Walmart, 14030 Abercorn St., about 5 p.m. when the suspect approached her with a gun and demanded her keys and money. Two male shoppers heard the woman yell for help and chased after the suspect. SCMPD officers located the 16-year-old suspect hiding in a wooded area nearby. The teen was transported to RYDC on charges of armed robbery and cruelty to someone older than 65.
