SAVANNAH, GA (January 16, 2014): Islands Precinct detectives for the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department seek the public’s help in identifying a man who stole cell phones from a Savannah wholesale store, and is believed responsible for smartphone thefts at the store’s locations in at least two states.
The Savannah incident occurred at about 9 a.m., Monday, Dec. 30 at Sam’s Club on the 1900 block of East Montgomery Cross Road. A man wearing a small backpack pried open a display case containing iPhones. The suspect then placed 14 phones in his backpack before exiting the store.
Detectives believe the suspect left the scene in a newer model black Dodge Charger.
The suspect is linked to Sam’s Club thefts in DeKalb County, GA and Lumberton County, NC. In each case the thief made off with smartphones from the electronics departments, and left in the same type of vehicle.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s. He stands about 5-10 to 6-0 feet tall and weighs roughly 160 to 180 pounds.
