SAVANNAH, GA (October 3, 2012) Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police will begin preparing for the 2012 Oktoberfest Celebration with traffic constraints as early as Thursday morning.
The Celebration begins Friday on the River Front and continues through Sunday morning.
Parking Lot No. 3 on River Street will be closed Thursday morning to all traffic except vendor parking. Lots No. 1 and 2 will be closed starting Friday morning to all non-vendor parking.
River Street itself will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday and again 7 p.m. Saturday until 4 a.m. Sunday.
SCMPD officers will be closely monitoring the area throughout the festival and a midnight curfew will be enforced each night for those younger than 17.
Police also remind attendees to monitor their alcohol intake and to take all precautions.
