Metro Gears Up for Oktoberfest

SAVANNAH, GA (September 30, 2015): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are increasing patrols throughout Downtown in anticipation of large Oktoberfest crowds this coming weekend.

The festival will take place on River Street from Friday until Sunday. River Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday and again from 8 p.m. Saturday until 4 a.m. Sunday. All parking lots on River Street also will be closed during that time. Exceptions will be made for vender parking.  No additional road closures are expected.

SCMPD will increase patrols from City Market to River Street during the festival. Drivers are urged to be cautious of pedestrians. A mid-night curfew will be enforced for festival-goers younger than 17.
