SAVANNAH, GA (December 14, 2015): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Accident Investigations Team is investigating two wrecks that left several injured over the weekend.
The first accident occurred Friday evening at approximately 10:19 p.m., as Logan Johnson, 18, was traveling northbound on Truman Parkway in a 2015 Chevy Silverado. Johnson exited Truman Parkway at Victory Drive traveling eastbound. Richard Hicks, Jr., 22, was traveling eastbound on Victory Drive in a 2013 Fiat. As Johnson attempted to reenter Truman Parkway traveling north, the two vehicles collided.
Hicks was transported to Memorial University Medical Center in critical condition. Johnson was transported to Candler Hospital but sustained no known injuries.
In a separate incident, Sunday evening at approximately 6:06 p.m., Donald Burns Jr., 24, was traveling north on Highway 17 when he attempted to make a left turn on Canebrake Road. Matthew Money, 29, was traveling south on Hwy. 17 in the right lane in a Ford Escape when Burns’ vehicle entered his path. The vehicles collided causing the Corolla to spin around striking a Lexus, occupied by Diana Dranks, 47, who was stopped at the stop sign on Canebrake Road.
A one-year-old passenger in Burns’ vehicle was taken to Memorial University Medical Center with serious injuries. Money and his passenger were transported to MUMC with non-life threatening injuries.
Both collisions remain under investigation by MAIT.
