Saturday, October 25, at 7:36 p.m., Erica Porter, 26 of Savannah, was traveling west in the left lane of Abercorn Extension, when the rear of her Honda CRV was struck by a Ford F150 operated by Willie Smith, 51, of Savannah. The impact caused Smith’s truck to cross the center median into the east bound lanes of Abercorn Extension. There, the F-150 collided with a Mazda Miata, driven by Francisco Garcia-Vasquez, who was traveling in the east bound center lane. While driving a PT Cruiser, Tiffany Roberts, 27, of Savannah, was heading east in the far right lane, when her vehicle was struck by the Miata, then the F-150.
Roberts was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with minor injuries. Smith was taken to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment. Garcia-Vazquez also was transported to Memorial University Medical Center with serious injuries. Garcia-Vazquez succumbed to his injuries Tuesday evening.
