SAVANNAH, GA (December 2, 2011): Some Downtown streets will be closed Saturday afternoon and evening for the annual Savannah Christmas Parade.
The parade, expected to include as many as 400 people, 60 units and 10 floats will be held between 5:30 and 7 p.m., but Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police will have to close some streets beginning at 3 p.m.to prepare for it.
The staging areas will be on West River Street at MLK Junior Boulevard. Areas that will be closed include River Street between Fahm and Barnard streets and MLK between Indian and River streets. Vehicles left in the area will be blocked in until the end of the parade.
The parade travels east on River Street, south up the East Broad Street ramp, west on Bay Street, south on Abercorn Street and north on Barnard Street. It disbands at Ellis Square.
