SAVANNAH, GA (August 14, 2015): Southside Precinct Investigators of Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department arrested three teens in a foiled burglary on Thursday afternoon.
At about 2:30 p.m. Metro was dispatched to a residence on the 12000 block of Largo Drive, where a concerned citizen reported suspicious activity by several teenage males. Responding officers observed signs of forced entry to the residence and three subjects matching the descriptions fleeing the area. A foot pursuit ensued throughout Windsor Forest. Less than 30 minutes later three suspects were in SCMPD custody.
Two 15-year-olds are charged with criminal attempted burglary and obstruction by fleeing. A 14-year-old is charged with criminal attempted burglary, obstruction by fleeing and providing false information. Investigators are determining whether a fourth suspect is involved.
SCMPD Patrol Division Commander, Maj. Larry Branson said, “This is an example of how police and citizens work together to get criminals off of our street and to keep our neighbors from being victimized.” Branson continued, “The outcome could have been quite different if observant citizens would not have spoken up. We’re so grateful that they did and encourage others to follow this lead.”
Metro’s Southside Precinct Crime Suppression and patrol units, along with K9 and aviation aided in this arrest.
