SAVANNAH, GA ( June 16, 2011) Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred this morning on Whitemarsh Island.
Just after 10 a.m., a man walked into the SunTrust Bank located in the Publix on Hwy 80. He stepped up to the bank counter simply said “ hey buddy”. According to the teller, he grabbed the money that was in his hand as he was working on a transaction for a customer, and ran out of the store. The suspect never brandished a handgun or made a threat. He got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect is described as a white male, stocky build, short brown hair, 5’10”, 170 lbs- 185 lbs. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a navy blue shirt and light blue shorts.
