SAVANNAH, GA (October 25, 2012) Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are asking the public to help locate the driver of a pickup truck who reportedly has been offering young girls rides in the Isle of Hope area after receiving two reports Wednesday afternoon.
Two girls, age 8 and 14, reported the driver of the truck in different incidents pulled up beside them and repeatedly offered them rides. He continued to follow them after they declined.
Islands Precinct patrol officers and detectives have been seeking the vehicle, described as a white, full-sized pickup with scratched paint and set up to ride low to the ground. The driver was described as white with a dark complexion or Hispanic in his 20s or 30s.
Police suggest children be warned not to approach any vehicle or allow anyone to approach them offering rides, and to quickly move to an area where they can call police.
Anyone with information on the identity of the driver or location of the truck is asked to call police immediately or call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include “CStop2020” plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
