SAVANNAH, GA (December 4, 2015): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Accident Investigations Team is investigating two wrecks that claimed the life of two people.
The first accident occurred Thursday evening, just after 6 p.m., as Tajon Alford, 22, was traveling east on Mall Boulevard on a Kawasaki motorcycle. Ray Dean, 71, was traveling north to enter Mall Boulevard in a 2014 Dodge Durango. Dean made a left turn onto Mall Boulevard when the motorcycle collided with the driver side of Dean’s vehicle. Alford was ejected from his motorcycle.
Alford was transported to Memorial University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. No injuries were reported by Dean or his two adult passengers.
This is an ongoing MAIT investigation.
In a separate incident, Friday morning at approximately 2:47 a.m., Willie Pollard, 64, was lying in the street on DeRenne Avenue for an undetermined reason. Marcus Brown, 27, was traveling eastbound on Derenne Avenue when he struck Pollard.
Pollard was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol may have been a factor in this incident.
This too, is an ongoing MAIT investigation. Charges may be pending.
