SAVANNAH, GA (July 26, 2017): The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department honored dozens of officers and staff members at its Years of Service ceremony on Wednesday, July 26.
The 46 men and women honored represented nearly every facet of the police department including patrol officers, investigators, communications officers, special operations personnel, administrative assistants and much more. The ceremony took place at the SCMPD’s Professional Development Center at 3401 Edwin Street.
Chief of Police Joseph H. Lumpkin, Sr. praised the officers and employees for their dedication to the citizens of this community saying, “Today, we gather to honor men and women who have devoted from five to 35 years of their life to make this city and county a better place to live, work and visit.”
One employee celebrated 35 years of service, five have reached their 30-year milestone, nine celebrated 25 years of service, four celebrated 20 years of service, 10 have reached their 15-year milestone, one employee celebrated 10 years or service and 16 employees were recognized for five years of service.
