Update: Tuesday, Steven Legerlotz succumbed to his injuries sustained in the wreck.


SAVANNAH, GA (December 7, 2015): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Accident Investigations Team responded to a single-vehicle wreck that seriously injured two people Sunday morning.

At approximately 2:34 a.m., Steven Legerlotz, 29, was driving west on Johnny Mercer Boulevard in a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta with Kristina Legerlotz in the front passenger seat. Mr. Legerlotz lost control of his vehicle and crossed the median impacting a tree off the south side of the roadway. The vehicle then flipped on its roof.

The driver and the passenger were ejected from the vehicle. Both were transported to Memorial University Medical Center in critical condition.

This is an ongoing MAIT investigation.
