SAVANNAH, GA (Aug. 11, 2014): Joanie and Chachi, the two dogs so attracted to each other when rescued by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Animal Control in mid-July, were delivered to their new home in Florida this weekend.
Animal Control Officer Christina Sutherin, who first found Joanie, a pit bull mix, carrying the injured Chachi, a long-haired Chihuahua mix in her mouth, delivered the dogs personally. They joined a family with two other dogs and a house with a fenced back yard. The new family immediately sought additional medical care for Chachi, discovering a large hernia that already has been repaired by surgery.
Chachi is recovering nicely. Joanie is enjoying afternoon walks and occasional swims with her new family.
