SAVANNAH, GA (September 12, 2017) – Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Central Precinct officers worked alongside Metro’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team to get two more stolen guns off Savannah streets.
Around 10:30 p.m. on September 11, officers noticed several men gambling outside. As officers approached them, the men tried to run but were quickly apprehended.
Just before being arrested, Carlos Coleman, 24, threw a gun on the ground. That gun was recovered and determined to be stolen. Coleman is a convicted felon.
Kennari Meachum, 21, also ran from police and was arrested.
Coleman was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance, and numerous other offenses.
Meachum was charged with giving a false name to police, and was served with an outstanding warrant.
