SAVANNAH, GA ( May 21, 2012) One would-be purse snatcher is behind bars thanks to some good citizens and quick police work.

Saturday, just before 8:30 p.m., Victoria Adams was sitting outside a local restaurant on Abercorn Street when Jarmel BROWN, 20, walked by grabbed her purse, punched her in the face, and took off running. The victim ran after him, screaming for him to stop. She ran by Savannah Toyota where two of their sales representatives, Dennis Stone, and Benjamin Webster, saw what was going on and took up the chase as well. The two men caught up with BROWN and tackled him. They got the stolen purse and returned it to Adams.

As police responded to the area the men were able to point BROWN out, and after a short foot pursuit he was taken into custody near the Suburban Lodge.  BROWN was charged with robbery by force, obstruction by fleeing, and obstruction by resisting.
