SAVANNAH, GA (July 29, 2013): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police have arrested a purse snatching suspect who tried to lie about his identity but was identified through his ankle monitor.
Tyrhee Lamon Edwards, 17, of the 2500 block of Oak Forest Drive, was pursued and detained by witnesses after he stole a purse from a 50-year-old woman at Wal-Mart on Montgomery Crossroads just before noon today.
Edwards gave a false name to Islands Precinct officers who responded and was uncooperative. But a trace on the monitor he was wearing led police to his probation officers, who correctly identified him.
Edwards has been charged with robbery by sudden snatching. Robbery detectives continue to investigate.
