Public Affairs
The SPD Public Affairs Office is responsible for media relations, internal and external communications in the department, community outreach efforts and the management of social media accounts.
All interview requests must be coordinated through the Public Affairs Office. All press releases are posted on the SPD website, Twitter and Facebook. Interview requests or requests for information on existing cases can be submitted by emailing the Public Affairs Office. All current and historic crime data and crime maps are available at Crime Report – SAVANNAH POLICE (savannahpd.org)

If a critical incident occurs, initial details will be posted to the SPD Twitter account once they have been confirmed. SPD strives to get this update posted as quickly as possible. Prior to the initial details being posted on Twitter, the on-call PIO will not have information to release to the media. A department representative is available after hours to respond to follow-up questions from media representatives about critical incidents only. All non-critical incident inquiries will be handled during normal business hours.
