SAVANNAH, GA (April 7, 2015): Monday morning, in reference to outstanding warrants, shooting suspect, Jamari Cartledge, 17, reported to Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Headquarters, where he was arrested then transported to Chatham County Detention Center.
Cartledge is charged with aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit armed robbery and possession of a firearm in committing a crime.
Metro detectives identified Cartledge as the suspect in the shooting of Anthony Crawford, 16, last Wednesday night.
The shooting happened when Crawford, who resides on East 37th Street, was riding his bicycle along East 39th Street. Investigators believe Crawford stopped to talk to acquaintances when Cartledge produced a handgun and demanded the bicycle. Crawford resisted and was shot.
