SAVANNAH, GA (December 3, 2010): Officers from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department, Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Chatham and Effingham County sheriff’s offices served search warrants on three locations early Friday morning.

Antwon Marquis Benton, 19, Korrey Sentell Jones, 23, and Damien Maurice Singleton, 20, have been charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault in the robbery of the Welsh Pawn Shop on Skidaway Road.

Officers already had a warrant for armed robbery and a burglary warrant from another case against Jones when he was found in one Savannah residence. The other two men were taken into custody after being found in the second Savannah residence and charged after questioning.

Search warrants were served on the two Savannah houses and a third in rural Effingham County. Police also recovered two weapons.

The armed robbery occurred around 10 a.m., Nov. 26, at the business located at 2800 Skidaway Rd. Two suspects walked into the business, asked workers to view a few items, then started shooting. Two clerks were shot and received non life-threatening injuries. The robbers smashed glass cases and removed several items to include six firearms. The clerks identified the robbers as two black males, wearing dark clothing and baseball caps.

The investigation is continuing.
