SAVANNAH, GA (May 31, 2011): A 27-year-old Savannah man already in custody on a probation violation was charged Monday with the Dec. 23 robbery of the Downtown branch of BB&T.
Antonio Terrell Anthony of the 5000 block of Waters Avenue was charged with robbery after he was picked up by Garden City Police on a probation violation and deputies at the Chatham County Detention Center discovered he also was wanted for the bank robbery.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police in May had identified him as the suspect in the bank robbery based on fingerprints taken from the bank and secured a warrant for his arrest.
In the December robbery, the suspect wearing reflective sunglasses, a blue jacket and a ball cap walked up to a teller window and presented a note claiming to have full blown aids and nothing to lose and demanding money. A second teller suspected the bank was being robbed and called police just before the man walked out of a side door.
