SAVANNAH, GA (December 8, 2014): Charges have been served against a Savannah parolee who punched a woman in a parking lot last week as well as against two women accompanying him.
Karon Donte McGirt, 24, has been charged with battery, false statements and writings and violation of parole for the incident in the Home Depot parking lot about 6 p.m. on Dec. 1.
He was a passenger in a blue 1992 Honda Accord that stopped suddenly in the path of a 2013 Toyota Rav 4 driven by a 28-year-old woman. The Toyota driver honked her horn and the Honda stopped and McGirt exited, approached the passenger side window and punched a 51-year-old woman in the face several times.
Islands Precinct detectives traced the Honda by the license plate and identified McGirt, his sister Kayosha McGirt and his girlfriend Aryquazasa Nyjae Holmes,18, as the occupants of the Honda. The two women also have been charged with false statements and writings. All three live on the 800 block of East 33rd Street and all now have been arrested.
Karon McGirt has an extensive record with Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police. He served seven months of a two-year sentence for burglary from June 29, 2010 until January 31, 2011, and was on parole since April 2014 after serving 20 months of a three-year sentence for theft by receiving and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
