SAVANNAH, GA (February 21, 2012): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating the death of a Savannah and Garden City businessman whose body was found on a vacant lot he co-owned early this morning.
The body of Christopher Mayville, 50, of a Grace Drive address, was found on the lot at East 61st and Abercorn streets about 3:30 a.m. by a search team of patrol officers from all five precincts who were walking the lot. The cause of death has not been released.
A Central Precinct officer spotted Mayville’s Toyota SUV on the back of the lot about 1 a.m. and police began investigating why it was there. Family members called police just after 2 a.m. to report they had not seen him since 9 a.m. Monday when he usually went to work as a CPA in Garden City.
