SUSPECT NABBED IN ROAD RAGE SHOOTING
SAVANNAH, GA (August 10, 2011): A 24-year-old Savannah man has been charged in the shooting of another man in an argument that started out as road rage.
Kyle C. Nettles of the first block of Belmont Street has been charged with aggravated assault in the shooting of Joseph E. Dotson Jr., 57, of the first block of Briarberry Cove.
Island Precinct officers were called to Washington Street and Garfield Avenue about 4 p.m. and found Dotson in his Dodge pickup suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment.
Dotson said he was traveling south on Washington when a light colored vehicle approached him, speeding in the opposite direction in his lane, nearly causing a collision. Dotson yelled at the vehicle as it passed and the vehicle returned and Dotson and the passenger in the car got out. An argument followed and Dotson was shot. The shooter left the scene, but not before Dotson was able to get his cell phone from him.
The cell phone was traced to Nettles, who was arrested at his residence Tuesday night. Nettles denied knowing of the incident, but witnesses confirmed his identity.
