SAVANNAH, GA (April 1, 2011): The victim of a shooting was treated for his injuries and arrested while Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police searched for his assailants and reasons he was shot Thursday night.
Mario Jermaine Cook, 22, of the 1500 block of 38th Street was transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment of a wound to his scalp after two men opened fire on a car he was sitting in about 7:20 p.m. He was treated overnight and released today, then Cook was arrested on a probation violation.
Police were called to a house on 38th Street at Waters Avenue about 7:23 p.m. and were told Cook was with others in the back seat of a car awaiting an acquaintance to join them when two men walked up and began firing through the back windshield.
The gunmen ran to a nearby car and drove away while a witness chased after them. Cook said he had noticed the men earlier and he did not know either.
