SAVANNAH, GA (July 30, 2011) a dangerous day on the roads has sent five people to the hospital in three serious accidents.
Early this morning at 2:44 a.m., a Honda Shadow motorcycle hit the curb while traveling southbound on Chatham Pkwy. The rider Joseph Micco, 28, struck the curb and lost control. He was transported to Memorial University Medical Center. He remains in serious condition.
Tonight at 5:44 p.m., Rhett Williams was traveling west on Fort Argyle Road operating a Harley Davidson Motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a left hand curve in the roadway. The motorcycle went down into the ditch line and Williams was thrown from the bike. He was transported to Memorial University Medical Center where he was admitted and is listed in serious condition.
Then later at 6 p.m., A Toyota Rav 4 driven by Antuan Weeks, 19, of Fayetteville, was traveling west on Liberty Street, when he failed to stop at the red light at Price Street. The Rav 4 was struck on the right side by Brian Powers, 36, of Brunswick, who was driving a Mazda Tribute. He was traveling south on Price Street.
Three people were taken to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment. Weeks suffered serious injuries. The other driver and Weeks passenger did not suffer serious injuries.
