SAVANNAH, GA (January 8, 2015): Two 16-year-olds have been charged with armed robbery after they were identified as the pair who kicked a woman, pointed a gun at her and her sister and tried to steal their car Dec. 27.
The two males were charged Wednesday by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police detectives investigating the robbery that began in a pet store parking lot. One of the teens was taken into custody by a Metro Canine officer who had tracked him through a wooded area near Cindy Avenue and Croatan Street.
The two sisters from Athens, GA, reported they had left a pet store on the 7800 block of Abercorn Street when the two males walked up and requested a ride home. Once they drove to the crime scene both pulled guns and ordered them from the car. A suspect pointed a gun at one and pulled the trigger. When it failed to fire, he kicked her in the face while she was crouched on the ground.
The teens attempted to steal the car, but were unable after the key broke in the ignition. They ran from the area but responding Southside Precinct officers set up a perimeter that entrapped one of the teens. The other was identified through the investigation.
