SAVANNAH, GA (December 22, 2011): Charges are being considered against a 16-year-old juvenile in four cases ranging from assaults to burglaries after a woman reported an attempted sexual assault Wednesday night.
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police arrested the juvenile in the area where four such crimes had been reported since Nov. 11. Police also are investigating similarities between those assaults and several others in the Avondale and Skidaway corridor areas
In Wednesday’s assault a woman reported a young male had entered her house and pushed her down before demanding sex. He left when she began fighting him off.
The investigation also has linked the juvenile to three other cases:
On Nov. 23, a woman reported a young male dragged her into her house, grabbing under her robe. She fought back and the male ran through the same door he had entered.
On Dec. 1, a woman reported a male of the same description had entered her house looking for a woman who lived there. When she told him the woman was not home, she said he attempted to overpower her and pull at her clothing until she screamed for her boyfriend. Then he ran from the house.
And on Dec. 13, a woman reported a young man she recognized in the area forced his way into her house and sexually attacked her. Police found he had cut the screen on her door to unlatch it to gain entrance.
Police had been investigating those cases, as well as two others with similarities, but were unable to positively connect them until interviewing the suspect today because of dissimilarities that also existed between the cases.
Violent Crimes and Special Victims Unit detectives are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include “CStop2020” plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
