SAVANNAH – The Savannah Police Department has arrested Elisio Villalongo, 42, for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after responding to a self-inflicted shooting with non-life-threatening injury at the 1200 block of E. 55th St.
On April 10 at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded to ShotSpotter alerts at the 1200 block of E. 55th St. Upon arrival, a vehicle was seen leaving the area at high speed and was pulled over by the officers at a traffic stop.
The adult male driver, Villalongo, had suffered a gunshot wound to his calf after getting into a physical altercation with an adult male victim. During the altercation, Villalongo brought out a handgun, which accidentally discharged. This caused Villalongo to suffer a minor gunshot wound.
Elisio Villalongo, 42, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and felony obstruction by intimidation to law enforcement.
