SAVANNAH, GA (February 4, 2018) – Savannah Police detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred during an attempted armed robbery on E. 40th Street this morning.
Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of E. 40th Street about 1:30 a.m. today and discovered two male victims. One of the men, Matthew Kimble, 33, was suffering from a gunshot wound. A preliminary investigation revealed Kimble and Matthew Cesaretti, also 33, were outside the residence when an unknown black male approached with a firearm. After speaking with the victims, the gunman began shooting, striking Kimble. The gunman was last seen fleeing on foot on Abercorn Street.
Kimble was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Cesaretti was also transported to a hospital for treatment of a laceration that occurred during the incident.
