SAVANNAH, GA (November 15, 2022) – Savannah Police’s Aggravated Assault Unit continues to investigate a Nov. 14 incident at E. 38th and Ott streets where an SPD vehicle was shot.
Around 6 p.m. an SPD sergeant was traveling through the area in an unmarked sedan when at least one individual opened fire, striking the vehicle multiple times. The sergeant was not injured and did not return fire. The shooter was believe to be on foot at the time of the incident.
Two teens, who were seen fleeing from the area, were detained for questioning. The 15-year-old was released to his parents. Jamell Gardner, 19, was booked into the Chatham County jail an unrelated drug charge of possession of crack cocaine. No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
