SAVANNAH, GA (August 23, 2021) – Savannah Police Department detectives arrested three suspects in a triple homicide cold case.
Around 8:30 p.m. April 13, 2015, officers responded to a shots fired call at a home in the 1200 block of N.E. 36th Street, where located three victims deceased from gunshot wounds. The deceased were identified as Anderson Mells, 52; Gary Mells, 30; and Johnny Green, 37.
Officers immediately detained two persons of interest following a traffic stop but they were later released after questioning. The case eventually grew cold.
Recently the Major Crimes Unit reopened the case, resulting in new leads and the identification of multiple suspects in the case. On Aug. 10, a Chatham County grand jury indicted three suspects on charges of felony murder and malice murder.
On Aug. 13, the U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and SPD SWAT arrested Stanley Hall, 38, after he barricaded himself in a residence on DeRenne Avenue. On Aug. 20, John Baker, 29, and Jerrell Williams, 39, were arrested. All suspects have been booked into the Chatham County jail.
