SAVANNAH, GA (August 15, 2019) – This afternoon, Savannah Police’s SWAT Team and Violent Crimes Task Force conducted a warrant service which resulted in the successful apprehension of an individual wanted for an October 2018 shooting.
Frank Vurgess, 39, was wanted for the shooting of Taylor Kingsley, 29, on October 7, 2018 in the 700 block of Joe Street. Throughout the course of the investigation, officers received intelligence on Vurgess’s location. This information resulted in a warrant service at a residence in the 800 block of E. 35th Street.
SWAT officers took Vurgess into custody without incident. Officers also located two firearms in the residence. He was booked into the Chatham County Detention Center with aggravated assault, fleeing to elude and giving a false name charges.
