SAVANNAH, GA (October 30, 2014) –This morning members of the SCMPD Patrol School Class 276 and Class 277 honored a fallen Effingham County Sheriff’s deputy during a “Run to Remember” in downtown Savannah.
On November 17, 2006 Cpl. Dennis Wright was killed in an automobile accident on Jimmy Deloach Parkway. Wright served on the department 2 years, prior to that he was a Thunderbolt police officer.
Runners ran from the south end of Forsyth Park this morning to the Police Officer Memorial on Oglethorpe Ave. for a brief memorial service. Asst. Chief Terry Enoch and Major Richard Zapal followed on bicycles.
Every Metro Police recruiting class honors a law enforcement officer from the Savannah and Chatham County area who was killed in the line of duty.
