SAVANNAH, GA ( June 20, 2011) Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are investigating an attempted home invasion that occurred this morning on Savannah’s Eastside.

Just after 11 a.m., officers responded to the 2100 Block of Iowa Street after receiving reports of a burglary. The victims, a mother and young son told police that they had heard a loud banging at the back door.

The son went to the back door and opened it, thinking it was his older brother playing around. Instead he was greeted by a man holding a gun and wearing a mask.

Both mother and son ran out of the house, through the front door. They ran to a neighbor’s house and called police.  Once police arrived on scene they searched the house and surrounding area and did not locate the suspects.
