SAVANNAH, GA (October 30, 2013) – The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department has several youth outreach activities planned for Trick-or-Treaters this week.
On Thursday, October 30th Island Precinct officers will be holding a Trunk-or-Treat event outside Islands High School at 170 Whitemarsh Island Road from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The public is invited to come out and meet the officers and enjoy free food, candy and entertainment. McGruff the Crime Dog will be there too!
On Friday, October 31st, officers will be holding a “Safe Kids Halloween” event at the Central Precinct (1512 Bull Street) for trick-or-treaters from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Officers and volunteers will be handing out candy and there will be lots of spooky Halloween lights, props and music for everyone to enjoy. Central Precinct Officers will also attend a Halloween event with McGruff the Crime Dog at Derenne Middle School at 1 p.m.
On Friday, October 31st, Downtown Precinct officers will be attending Halloween events all day and into the night in a “Spooky Ride” police car. Their first stop will be the Lady Bamford Early Learning Center at 1410 Richards Street at 10 a.m.
On Friday, October 31st, officers from West Chatham Precinct will be attending school and community Halloween events throughout Savannah and Chatham County handing out candy and making sure children are having a safe and fun Halloween.
On Friday, October 31st, Southside Precinct officer will attended several neighborhood events, including on at the Covenant Community Center on Coffee Bluff Road at 6 p.m. McGruff the Crime Dog will be joining officers at that event.
Several local businesses, including Chatham Parkway Toyota, Savannah Lodging LLC, Tourism Leadership Council, Wet Willies, and Savannah International Trade and Convention Center, have made generous to donations to provide the officers with candy and other treats for these youth outreach activities.
