SAVANNAH, GA (January 30, 2015) Animal Control Officer Christina Sutherlin shows off Grace, a 7-month-old lab/bull mix puppy who was rescued by officers Thursday with a chain embedded in her neck. The puppy was found ignoring her own pain to tend to a young child in the unincorporated Chatham County neighborhood east of the Sandfly area. Veterinarians removed the chain from her neck and stitched up the open wounds of the puppy that has spent today wagging her tail and licking fingers of Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Animal Control employees. She is expected to be available for adoption after a five-day waiting period. Officers continue to seek those who had chained the puppy to allow the injuries to occur. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
