SAVANNAH, GA (July 26, 2011): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police have voided kidnapping warrants against a 32-year-old Savannah man after confirming the information he provided.
After talking to Jamal Dwayne DAVIS, SCMPD investigators have determined he is no longer a suspect in the attempted abduction of two women July 16.
SCMPD violent crime detectives confirmed the information Davis provided that eliminated him as a suspect in the two attacks. However, warrants charging Davis with probation violation remain active.
Kidnapping warrants were taken against him after two women reported a man fitting his description tried to kidnap them. Police were called to a warehouse complex after a woman told police a black male grabbed her, picked her up and attempted to carry her into the wood line. Just a few hours later another woman was attacked and almost pulled from her vehicle right within a block of where the first attack occurred. The man relented when the woman kicked him and he fled the area.
Anyone with information on the July 16 abductions or the location of Davis is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include “CStop2020” plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
