SAVANNAH, GA (March 21, 2022) –Savannah Police arrested two suspects on March 18 following a shooting of an adult female and kidnapping of an infant child.
Around 4 a.m. March 18, a 25-year-old woman arrived at Memorial Medical Center suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Upon an investigation into the incident, detectives determined that the shooting occurred in the 1800 block of Waters Avenue and was the result of an ongoing dispute related to an earlier incident in that same location. Further investigation determined that the earlier incident, which occurred about one hour prior, also involved the armed kidnapping of a 9-month-old child from his mother.
Detectives quickly identified the kidnapping suspect as the child’s father, 25-year-old Jamari Taishawn Chisholm. That afternoon, multiple units to include SPD Strategic Investigations Unit, Criminal Investigations Unit, SWAT, Chatham Narcotics Team and the FBI assisted in identifying a residence in the 1000 block of Jefferson Street as a location of interest for Chisholm and another suspect. Both suspects were located at the home and taken into custody. SWAT entered the residence and located the baby. Other children, who were not connected to the incident, were also removed from the home and kept safe by police until their guardians arrived.
Chisolm was booked into the Chatham County jail on charges of aggravated assault and kidnapping. Antonio Stefan Johnson, 20, was booked on a charge of aggravated assault.
