SAVANNAH, GA (March 16, 2022) – Savannah Police detectives have arrested a suspect in connection to the robbery of a Paulsen Street bank on March 7.
Around 9:30 a.m. officers responded to Synovus Bank, 4905 Paulsen St., in reference to a robbery. An investigation determined an armed suspect made demands of an employee and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Detectives identified the suspect as Omar Maurice Lockhart, 34. Lockhart was taken into custody by SPD, members of the FBI’s Southeast Georgia Violent Crimes Task Force, and the Chatham County Police Department. At the time of the arrest, Lockhart was in possession of a stolen firearm and a stolen vehicle.
He was booked into the Chatham County jail on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, theft by taking, theft by receiving stolen property (firearm), theft by receiving stolen property (auto), and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
