SAVANNAH, GA (April 18, 2011): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are working to unravel complaints by a Soperton man that he was robbed and beaten and one of his assailants’ complaint that he had assaulted her in an Interstate 95 motel Sunday night.
Police were called to the Hardees at I-95 and Ga. 204 about 8 p.m. Sunday where they found Dyane Billie, 25, of Soperton bleeding from cuts to his body. He reported he had been beaten by two women and two men in a motel room and had crashed through a glass window to escape.
Megan Johnson, 17, and a 29-year-old woman, both of whom had followed him to the restaurant, and Ryan Day, 19, of the 1200 block of East 49th Street, have been charged with Robbery by Force and False Imprisonment. A fourth suspect is being sought.
Billie told police he was in a room at the America’s Best Value Inn with the elder woman when Johnson knocked on the door and came in. The woman was awakened and claimed not to know Billie and reported money had been taken from her purse.
Johnson called Day and another male to the room and they pushed Billie out, then took him to an adjoining room and all four of the suspects beat him and threatened him until he broke through a glass window to escape.
Johnson, Ryan and the other female told police Billie assaulted the elder woman, leading to the fight and the injuries he sustained. The elder woman later told police she had lied about the robbery she had reported earlier.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the woman’s allegations of assault, but report she has been reluctant to cooperate.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include “CStop2020” plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward
