SAVANNAH, GA (March 22, 2013): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police have issued a warning to residents who are approached by salespeople going door-to-door selling security systems.
Several residents in the Ardsley Park area have reported people knocking on doors offering security systems valued as high as $1,500 free in return for the recipients allowing themselves to be used as advertising for the systems.
Metro police have found no area security system companies that market their items in such a manner. They also warn residents that any sales person coming to their door must be able to show a permit from the city to do so. A logo on a shirt should not be accepted as evidence of authenticity.
Residents who are approached in such a manner or who feel unsure about the legitimacy of anyone trying to sell items to them should call police immediately.
