POLICE SEEK SUSPECT WHO ATTACKED TWO WOMEN WITHIN HOURS SAVANNAH, GA ( July 17, 2011) Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are searching for a man who attacked two women within hours Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Just after 11 p.m., officers responded to the 200 Block of River View Drive after receiving a call of an attempted abduction. The victim told police that she was in the process of taking out the trash for her work, when a black male walked up behind her, grabbed her, and started walking toward the wood line. The victim stated she kicked and screamed until the suspect finally let her go, he fled toward Runaway Point. The suspect is described as a black male, clean shaven, low haircut, approximately 5’ 06”, 150 lbs, dark pants and white shirt. At 2 a.m., the police believe the same suspect may have struck again, within the same warehouse complex of the first attack. This time the suspect attacked a woman in the 2700 Block of Gregory Street. The victim told police that she just walked out of her business and sat down in her vehicle when she was approached by a black male. She said that this black male reached into the vehicle and tried to pull her out. The victim stated that she fought back, kicking and screaming. After a brief struggle the suspect fled in the direction of Runaway Point. Additional Officers were brought to the location to conduct a canvass of the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The description of the suspect in the second incident was consistent with the first, except the color of the shirt. In the second incident the suspect was wearing a black shirt. These incidents are thought to be related, and Savannah-Chatham Metro police want men and women to be alert when going to and from their vehicles. Some tips to keep in mind. Have your cell phone in your hand prepared to call 911. Travel in pairs, try not to leave alone. Use your car alarm emergency button if you feel threatened. Lastly, if you see something suspicious, call police. ###
