SAVANNAH, GA (January 20, 2011): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are pulling together pieces of information from at least two shootings within an hour on differing sides of town that left a man with life-threatening wounds at each location Thursday night.
Police responded to several calls of gunfire at Live Oak Plantation apartments on the 8500 block of Waters Avenue ON Savannah’s South Side to find a male victim with gunshot wounds about 8:20 p.m.
Less than an hour later, they were called to the 1300 Block of Newcastle Street off Augusta Avenue on Savannah’s West Side to another report of gunfire. Residents there found a black male in a field near the lane about 9:11 p.m.
Both victims were transported to Memorial Health Medical Center where each was determined to have life-threatening injuries. Police have no reason to believe the cases are related.
A few minutes later, a third man arrived at the emergency room of Candler Hospital with non-life threatening wounds. He said he was shot on Mississippi Street and dropped off at the hospital by friends.
Police are seeking information on each of the shootings and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
