SAVANNAH, GA (September 6, 2011): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police, Savannah Fire and Southern District of Georgia U.S. Attorney’s Office on Friday will jointly sponsor a Tenth Anniversary Memorial to the citizens and emergency responders who perished in the September 11, 2001 attacks.
The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. in Police Memorial Park in the median of East Oglethorpe Avenue at Habersham Street. In includes five speakers, a bugler, bag pipes and a 21-gun salute.
Speaking will be Police Chief Willie Lovett, Fire Chief Charles G. Middleton, Sheriff Al St. Lawrence, U.S. Attorney Edward Tarver, and U.S. Deputy Marshal Chief Deputy for the Southern District of Georgia Tom Morefield who was assigned to the New York office 10 years ago.
The event is open to the public.
