SAVANNAH, GA (May 4, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Downtown Precinct investigators seek to identify a man suspected in multiple vehicle break-ins across the downtown area.
Detectives were able to obtain surveillance footage of a May 3 incident on the 500 block of Congress Street. The suspect broke windows of two vehicles before rummaging through them during the evening to early morning hours. He attempted another vehicle before fleeing on a bike. The suspect was unable to get away with any items of value.
The suspect is described as a black male possibly in his mid-20s to 30s and is of an average height and build. During the incident he wore a light colored hat possibly containing a polo logo, light colored collar shirt and dark colored pants. His bike was a dark colored road bike with narrow tires and possibly has a sticker on the right side of the seat.
Metro urges citizens to never leave valuables in plain sight and to always lock vehicles when exiting. Additionally, security systems may aid detectives in generating leads in similar cases.
