SAVANNAH, GA (November 10, 2016): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes investigators ask the public’s help in identifying at least two suspects in an exchange of gunfire on Wednesday, Nov. 9, that injured a 17-year-old student caught in the crossfire, while waiting for a ride after an event on Savannah High School’s grounds.
Just after 9 p.m. Metro responded to reports of a shooting on the 400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, in Savannah High’s parking lot. Responding Metro officers made contact with Savannah-Chatham County Public School System police officers already present at the scene, where the female shooting victim was located. The victim was transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center with a non-life threatening injury.
Reportedly, the teen was shot as an occupant of a 4-door silver or gray sedan and a white Lincoln SUV exchanged gunfire. One vehicle was driving just off school grounds, on Capital Street. The other vehicle was driving on Savannah High School’s campus. Both vehicles fled the area. Detectives do not believe the victim is involved in any activity leading to the shooting.
