SAVANNAH, GA (October 2, 2014): Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating the shooting of a 16-year-old male in east Savannah Thursday afternoon.
The high school student was transported to Memorial University Medical Center with a serious wound that was not considered life-threatening. His identification has been withheld pending family notification.
Islands Precinct Patrol officers were called to the 2200 block of Hawthorne Street at 3:50 p.m. and found the teen on the side of the street. The shooting reportedly occurred while a group of teens from the neighborhood who are familiar with each other were gathered.
SCMPD Violent Crimes detectives continue to investigate the shooting. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637) using the keyword CSTOP2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
